Why the Correct Voltage Is Critical

While it sounds simple, choosing the wrong voltage for this pan can lead to equipment failure, safety hazards, or a very messy floor. Here is a breakdown of why voltage selection is so important and how these pans are used in the field.

Selecting the right voltage isn’t just a suggestion; it’s a requirement for the pan to function safely and effectively.

The Danger of Overvoltage: If you connect a 120V pan to a 240V circuit, the heating element will receive twice the power it was designed for. This usually results in the element burning out instantly or, in a worst case scenario, causing an electrical fire.

The Problem with Undervoltage: Conversely, if you connect a 240V pan to a 120V circuit, the heater will be “starved” for power. It won’t get hot enough to evaporate the water. The pan will eventually overflow, leading to water damage or slip hazards in a commercial kitchen.

Efficiency and Lifespan: Even a slight mismatch (like running a 208V pan on 240V) can cause the element to run too hot, significantly shortening the life of the unit and increasing energy costs.
